Monsignor Thomas McKenna was the first Administrator of the newly consecrated Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King. He was actually appointed in 1958, some years before the opening and remained at the Cathedral until 1975. He later became Parish Priest of Corpus Christi, Rainford and died in retirement in 2003.
Canon Michael O’Connor served as Cathedral Administrator from 1975 to 1979 and now lives in retirement in his native Ireland.
Monsignor Vincent Malone was Cathedral Administrator from 1979 until his appointment as Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool in 1989.

Canon Anthony O’Brien is the current Dean of the Cathedral having succeeded Monsignor Peter Cookson in 2006
